i took a trip to verginia and was exploring the creeks and ponds when i found a turtle. it was at this low lying pond deep in the wood. the turtle has brown skins with spots of slight olive.
its shell is a very dark brown with a yellow design in each segment on top of its shell. the bottom is dark brown also.
i may be able to get a picture of it soon . i 'll give the url to the picture of a simular turtle. if you do look the shell is almost the same but the skin has no red spots, nor yellow strips

I cant particularly answer your questyion without seeing a image or without understanding the place you you're as some turtles are distinctive from one place to a distinctive in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it appears like a difficulty-loose painted turtle, attempt finding up painted turtle and notice what happens

My daughter loves turtles, and we had quite a few different types. The one in the picture looks like one we had that was called a Western Box Turtle. The mail has longer claws and a flat breast plate. I hope I am not mistaken on this.

The turtle in the picture is a red eared slider. However, you said that your turtle has no red spots - in which case it is quite likely that it is actually a painted turtle.

I live in Oklahoma, and i've always heard them just called mud turtles. They are everywhere here.

red eared slider is the turtle you have in the picture....however, if it doesnt have the red it isnt one.

It might be a yellow bellied slider ot a cumberland slider.

Maybe an eastern river cooter
