Ok so, I was down in my basement, I go down there to blaze and not get caught. Anyway I went down there and I was getting blazed when I noticed an interesting spider web. There was a spider down on it, it had clear legs and an orange and black body. It was moving around and it fascinated the f*** out of me, as you can imagine, I was high. I always visit it everytime I go down there now, its kinda like a friend in a weird way now. Can I catch it and take care of it, or should I just leave it. Also what would I need to raise my spider?

Well, your little friend can take care of itself where it is, you can still think of it as a pet, and maybe catch flies or roaches and put them in the web.

If you want to keep it in captivity, you migh read about keeping spiders.

It is not hard or expensive, but 'you' are responsible to see that it gets fed and has some form of water.

If this is a black widow, just respect it can have a bad bite and don't handle the spider.

Here is a house spider I keep in a deli tray:

And a black widow, they just need something to hide under:

First off, DON'T GET BIT! For all you know the spider might be the kind that can kill humans with its venom, or seriously hurt you. Probably not, but why risk it? Check the library or online for a picture of it and its name and characteristics. If it's mostly harmless, then you can think about catching it as a pet - but remember, once you trap it, it will be utterly dependent on YOU for food. If you don't want the hassle of feeding it, leave it be and admire it where it is. Also remember that the spider is probably keeping the insect population lower by camping in your basement, ridding you of unwanted pests!

First you need to know EXACTLY what type of spider you're dealing with. the spider probably doesn't want to be your pet since doing so means losing his free reign in the basement. but if you insist on trapping him and youve already found out what type of spider FOR SURE he is, you can read about what that spider eats or needs. I can imagine you'd have to buy bugs or catch bugs to throw into his web. He'd take care of the rest. I would assume they need water but i don't know for sure as I wouldn't dare keep a pet spider.
