A Feral animal is a domestic species that has returned to the wild, the only non-domestic horse species lives in Mongolia

There are feral mustangs, which for all intents and purposes, are wild. They live in the Rocky Mountains through Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.

An interesting piece of information is that some of them have developed stripes on their legs after many generations in the wild. A gene that was probably bred out when they were domestic, and now dominates since it's so helpful in the wild.

Nature on PBS has a fantastic documentary that follows a herd of mustangs. here's the link to it, if you care to watch

That might take a commute out West. States like Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming , and many others. Places in which there are massive sections of BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land, or Native Reservations (Don't input reservations with out permission) The one concern is that the wild horses probably preclude individuals so discovering them is also tricky. I've noticeable a few close Window Rock, Arizona even as passing via land belonging to the Navajo Nation. It's all open variety up there.

The answer no, there are no "wild" horse in the US. The only true remaining wild horse in existence is Przewalski's Horse (Equus ferus przewalskii) in Mongolia. However, there ARE "feral" horses in US. Here, on the White Mountain Apache Rez there are a few feral horse herds, my grandpa work for a ranch that sometimes round up a few for sale.

Feral horses came about when the domestic horses that the Spaniards brought with them got loose and thrived in wild.

Zebras are wild as well, but they are not horses. They are equids, like a horse, a member of the genus Equus.
